Chandlings School | ICT

ICT

All Chandlings classrooms, studios and laboratories are equipped with the latest technology which includes interactive whiteboard systems and specialist software. These complement lessons and excellent provision is made for future progress and development. We have two computer rooms for teaching ICT and these may also be used for other subject lessons.

The curriculum in ICT is both practical and progressive and there is a healthy balance between the essential skills being taught and exploring innovations that interest the pupils. We use the national curriculum as a foundation for our curriculum content and have adapted it to suit our needs. Specialist teachers teach in the Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

Pupils are encouraged to explore their potential and are given sound advice and encouragement in a secure working environment. Skills to use a word processor, spreadsheet, desktop publisher, presentations and internet browser are taught while pupils are given opportunities to practise through varied tasks. By the time our pupils leave us they are confident users of various applications and are ready for the challenges of their senior schools.
