Girls' Sport

There is a full games programme organised by energetic, experienced qualified teachers of Physical Education for girls at Chandlings. Every girl, regardless of physical ability is encouraged to participate in both individual sports and team games. Our aim is to promote enjoyment whilst developing skills.
The main winter games are netball and hockey. In the summer girls divide their time between rounders, athletics, tennis and swimming and there are matches in all these sports.
Competition and excellence are valued and our teams have an enviable record of success in matches against schools that have larger numbers of girls. We participate regularly in both Oxfordshire and IAPS tournaments which the girls thoroughly enjoy. Tournaments provide them with the opportunity to compete with other schools throughout Oxfordshire and the surrounding counties.
Girls of all ages are involved in swimming, gym and dance whilst our older girls in the Prep Department are able to gain experience in cross-country and basketball. All girls have the opportunity to gain national achievement awards in swimming, gym and athletics.

Chandlings’ parents play a huge part in supporting and encouraging our teams throughout the sporting year, despite the unreliability of the British weather on some occasions!
