Boys' Sport
Boys’ sport at Chandlings has grown immensely during the past few years. In addition to the pursuit of excellence, dedicated and specialist staff provide great opportunities for every child. Our boys in the Prep Department participate in four weekly games lessons, where the emphasis is on fun, skill development and teamwork. The children are grouped by ability for each sport. We feel it is important that the boys progress at the correct level and feel comfortable within their sport. We always aim to provide a positive and stimulating learning environment for the boys, providing them with the foundations to encourage them to enjoy sport throughout their lives.

Our major boys’ sports are football, rugby and cricket. There is also the opportunity to enjoy and develop skills in hockey, athletics, cross country, swimming and tennis. Some of our boys have gained sports scholarships and achieved county and national representative honours. School teams commence from under 8 (Year 3) through to under 11 (Year 6). We have an impressive record against many schools within the area. Moreover, we have a very good tradition of offering matches from ‘A’ team level through to ‘E’ level in some sports. Every boy participates in our football, rugby and cross country inter-house sports events.
We are fortunate to have delightful and spacious grounds for our children. Our facilities include a number of superbly maintained pitches, three tennis courts, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, cricket nets and a recently built cricket pavilion overlooking the main square. Our boys have also benefited from recent outings to The Brit Oval and Twickenham. Our school year ends with a mixed sports day, where the children are invited to select their own track and field events in which to participate, in addition to the climax of the ever-popular house relays.
